Projects in collaboration with scientists at other institutions

• Vernadsky Institute, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow. An institute-to-institute agreement between ASU and Vernadsky enables exchanges of visitors and collaborative work on planetary science. Currently, Dr. Ruslan Kuzmin from Vernadksy makes regular visits to ASU to work on projects related to Mars.
  
  
• DLR (German Space Agency) collaborations with members of the Berlin Planetary Exploration Group involve research on Galilean satellites, and preparation for the Mars Express mission, launched June 2, 2003.
  
  
• The Mars Aeolian Working Group is a collaboration among ASU Planetary Geology members, Robert Haberle (Ames Research Center; atmospheric studies and the general circulation model for Mars), Nathan Bridges (JPL; ventifacts), Ruslan Kuzmin (Vernadsky Institute; geology), Bruce White (Univ. California/Davis; physics of aeolian processes), and Scot Rafkin (San Jose State Univ.; mesoscale atmospheric modeling of Mars). The projects include study of wind-related features on Mars and their relation to current and past climate and surface evolution.
  
  
• Collaborative research is being conducted on the geology of the Galilean satellites, particularly geologic mapping of Europa and Io, including John Spencer (Lowell Observatory), Jeff Moore (NASA-Ames), Gary Hansen (Univ. Hawaii), Paul Schenk (Lunar-Planetary Institute), Alfred McEwen and Elizabeth Turtle (University of Arizona, and Lazlo Keszthelyi (U.S.G.S.).
