General Geology
Geology is the study of the materials and processes that occur on and within the Earth and the other solid, or 'terrestrial', bodies (i.e., planets, moons, asteroids) in our solar system. Not only does this involve the study of different types of rocks, but also how they form, and the types of landforms that they produce. There are four general types of processes that affect and modify the rocks at and near the surface of the Earth and other terrestrial bodies. These include volcanism, tectonism, gradation and impact cratering. Each terrestrial body has experienced one or more of these processes during its history. Below we present a short overview of each of these processes and the landforms and rocks they produce.
