A Tale of Two Deserts

"A Tale of Two Deserts" consists of two Macromedia Flash files designed to work with either the Internet Explorer or Netscape web browsers, on both Windows and Macintosh computer platforms, provided the browsers have the Flash Plug-in. Newer versions of these web browsers should already have the plug-in installed. If your system lacks the Flash Plug-in (an error message will appear telling you to get it), you can obtain one on the web at http://www.flash.com , or simply download an updated version of your web browser.

The "BEGIN" button below, will open up three new windows on your browser to start the exercises. The first window will contain the "Two Deserts" section of the exercise. A second window, just behind the first and offset to side, contains the "Mars surface" section that you will use later on in the exercise to compare images in both windows at the same time. A third window, with a new image set of desert landforms, as just been added and contains additional comparisons. You will want to maximize your window size when running the exercises.

This exercise is also available for download in both Mac .SIT and PC .ZIP compressed formats. If you have a slow internet connection (such as a modem) or are using older technology, it might be best to consider downloading the compressed files and using the exercises from your desktop. It would significantly increase the performance of the software and your enjoyment of "A Tale of Two Deserts".

We hope that you will find these exercises both informative and enjoyable. Please send any comments, suggestions or other feedback to kadel@asu.edu. Thanks!
