Sif Mons, a 2 km high, 300 km diameter shield volcano, marks a significant feature on the surface of Venus. Computer processing of Magellan Synthetic Aperture Radar data was used to produce this "flyover" view, which includes color based on that seen by the Russian Venera landers.

NASA's Galileo spacecraft caught this active lava fountain eruption at Tvashtar Catena on Jupiter's moon Io in Nov. 1999. This volcano produced a 380 km high plume eruption in Dec. 2000, resulting in a >1200 km diameter ring of red sulfur pyroclasts. Temperature estimates indicate Tvashtar may be a site of active ultramafic volcanism.
